Representatives of Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) and Italian oil company - Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi (ENI) held a meeting to enhance the development of joint ventures in Venezuela, mainly in the growth of free gas production in Cardón IV , Located in Campo Perla, in the Gulf of Venezuela.

PDVSA President Eulogio Del Pino, accompanied by Vice President Cesar Triana, emphasized the strategic importance of this meeting with ENI Chief Executive Officer Claudio Descalzi because Campo Perla today produces more than 540 million feet Cubic meters of natural gas and 15 thousand barrels per day of condensates.

During this meeting, different financial, commercial and technical aspects were discussed, which would allow both companies to advance in the following phases of the Cardón IV Project: the goal is to achieve a production of 1,200 cubic feet of gas and 37 thousand barrels of condensate.

In this sense, Del Pino emphasized the opportunities to increase production in the field, to meet the needs of domestic market and to boost the petrochemical industry. He also explained that gas exports to Aruba, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, among other markets in Latin America and the Caribbean will be boosted.

Also, Descalzi raised the possibility of using the latest technology for the export of gas, such as the installation of a liquefaction unit for Floating Gas or FLNG by its abbreviations in English.

At the end, Triana reported that the joint work between the two oil companies would leverage investments in other businesses. Such is the case of the development of Campo Junín 5 in the Oil Belt of the Orinoco Hugo Chavez, through the joint venture Petrojunín.
